Tikvah Means Hope

Four weeks ago today we said goodbye to our beloved orange and white kitty, Tikvah. He was 12.5 and had developed oral cancer that was causing him grave pain.

Bella, who received him for her 9th birthday, held him as we allowed a vet to cause his quick and painless passing. Scott, she and I wept from the depths of our souls. Together we buried him under The Love Tree in Paris, Michigan.

I've been mulling over writing children's books. Last night, I penned my first two: A Tale of Two Brothers--about Tikvah--and Buck and Tikvah, about our Brittany. I will now figure out how best to illustrate and publish.

When I flagged down a farmer 12 years ago to ask for a cat, I could not have imagined all the years of frustration and joy that this small feline would bring. He was a rascal and a beloved companion animal. He was sweet and sassy, a great lap cat and a formidable mouser.

I hope to use my storytelling skills to bring smiles to young and old alike. Stay tuned!
